Clean A Microwave Oven With Any of These Three Methods
Over time, it is inevitable that spattered food will build up on the inside of your microwave oven. This can effect the flavor of your food, and over time can become a health hazard. Although there is no way to prevent this buildup, you can use any of the following three methods to get your microwave oven clean again.
1. Dish Soap and Water
Fill a microwave-safe bowl with water. Then add some dishwashing liquid. To deodorize the oven, add some baking soda as well. Place the bowl in the microwave oven for about a minute. Remove the bowl, and clean the loosened debris with a rag, towel or sponge.
2. Water and vinegar
In a microwave-safe glass bowl, pour in water to the halfway mark and pour in some vinegar. Place the bowl in the microwave and run on High for about five minutes. This procedure will steam up the sides of the oven and loosen the built-up debris. You can now clean away the loosened debris with a clean towel or rag.
3. A Lemon!
Cut a lemon into two halves and place it on a microwave-safe plate. Add a tablespoon of water. Place this in the microwave for about a minute. The sides of the oven are now steamed up and you can easily clean it with a rag or towel. Hint: cut the lemon up into several pieces when you are done and flush it down the garbage disposal with cold water. This keeps your garbage disposal clean and pleasant-smelling.
Use any of the above methods on a regular basis to keep the inside of your microwave oven clean.
Safety First
A microwave oven can make something very hot very fast. Always use oven gloves or mitts.
