Looking For Bad Web Copy?
There is so much bad web copy today. Go to just about any website, even some of the biggest ones, and you will find typos, bad grammar, incorrect words, and even pure nonsense. How do companies expect to get away with this? And what does Google think about this?
Here is one of the best examples of bad copy we have ever seen: it came from an overseas SEO agency hired to provide SEO services to our plumbing company.
This is the line we sent the agency, asking them to rewrite it for a different page:
“We are a full service plumbing company”.
And this is what we got back:
“We are a full aid pipes association”.
Seriously. That’s what the overseas agency gave us. They looked in a thesaurus or used a spinner program. “Aid” is similar to “service”, but not quite; “pipes” has something to do with plumbing, but isn’t plumbing; and “association” is a form of organization, but does not mean company.
We are asking our readers and followers to send us some examples of bad copy they have found on the Web. Just send us the link, and we will take a look: if the copy is so bad that it’s really funny, we will post it on our new daily blog called Looking for Bad Web Copy.
